The Siege of Karon City: Part 1Markus looked over the holographic map carefully, his mouth tight and eyes narrowed as he studied the destroyed cityscape. Like all Hascus, his natural dreadlocks were short, emerging from behind his facial mask before tumbling down his head a short distance. His flesh was the color of sand, making it stand out from his darker brown colored plates. He wore the standard armor of a UPA Phoenix Trooper, lacking the modifications that most troopers made to their armor. In fact, the only unique feature was the twin blue strips that ran down his silver and scarlet chest plate. A standard issue P13 Phasor was strapped to his back, along with a combat blade on his lower back. On his hip were three grenades, and below that, on his thigh, a Z7 pistol was in its holster. He was prepared. He glanced up and examined the rest of his new squad, checking to see if they were also prepared.
Across the table from him was the team’s sniper, Whitmore. He was a Quanarian; his squinted blue eyes and tw
The Ways of the WickedDarkness... That's what awaits you, vermin.
Filth, you are a coward, thinking you are right when you don't know any better.
Silence! I will not tolerate to be back-talked by an unjust heathen!
Ha! Unjust? How can you claim to know justice when you have no free will! You're no better than a machine.
A machine designed to purge your kind from existence. Tell your god that I send him my regards.
Go to he...
"Admiral. You are needed on the bridge."
Krogen's eyes opened slowly, his pupils narrowing as he pulled himself out of his memories. Closing his eyes, he inhaled deeply before rising from his mat. Twisting his head to the side, he loudly popped his neck in multiple places. Cracking his knuckles together, he walked toward the door, his scarlet cape trailing behind him and his claws clicking loudly on the floor as he exited the room and headed towards the bridge.
As he strode down the corridor, crewmen parted before him, each one saluting him by dipping their heads and crossing an arm ov

Connor Thorn, Messiah (™): Chapter 12
Connor Thorn spent much of the Nog'Dod-bound journey's remaining duration in rather somber, melancholic contemplation of the haunting experience that was, in terms of physical distance, growing increasingly far behind him with each successive leap now being taken by the very impractical-seeming, yet undisputedly awesome, vehicle presently facilitating the transportation of the human and his otherworldly allies, but whose ramifications – physical, psychological and even spiritual – felt like they wouldn't be fading from his conscience any time even remotely soon. Of course, though, while feeling deeply affected by mental scars of his own guilt on top of the physical one entailed by his "tainted" finger, Thorn knew he couldn't let himself get too preoccupied with wallowing about these, for of even greater concern to his psyche right now were his ongoing, incredibly daunting ultimate mission of messianic heroism

Connor Thorn, Messiah (™): Chapter 11 (Part 1)
Connor Thorn found that the interior of the passageway was dimly, yet consistently, illuminated with the same darkish-blue-colored lighting first glimpsed upon the "face" its door had externally displayed, which lit the way here just enough so that Thorn could see a few steps' worth up-ahead, or rather down-ahead as it were, as he steadily made his descent. Each step was unusually tall and narrow, making this quite a precarious staircase indeed, but Thorn was nonetheless ultimately able to traverse it without encountering much more trouble than would be entailed by a more regular series of steps, managing to establish a "rhythm" of making his way down it step-by-step and even correctly counting the total number of stairs within his head.
"…And one-hundred-seventy-three!" Connor half-deliberately muttered out loud as he finally reached the bottom. His voice then echoed across the lengthy, empty hallway that now sto
