Codex: Ocpodle
THE PLANETHazulie is a super-earth orbiting around the yellow star Dhafiz. Approximately five times the size/material mass of the earth, leading to a much higher level of gravity. With an atmosphere composing 62% NH3, 24% N2, and 14% H2.Hazulie has three moons around its orbit thanks to its high gravity named Paunik Jeylein and Opikev. Uniquely, Paunik is a natural jungle world with a temperate climate, while Opikev became a megastructure, and Jeylein remains a barren world for historical reasons. The presence of the moons causes massive tidal and electrical forces on the planet, resulting in flooding in most areas along the coast. The planet is roughly 85% water due to its super-earth status, with the rest dominated by one large continent the size of Asia and two islands the size of Japan. With the continent named Guinzil and the islands being Hezsher and Inefez.Guinzil a small continent surrounded by vast seas but burgeoning with life and varied landscapes.Along the coastal parts are the jeweled lake forests and swamps spread out over multi-kilometers worth of land due to surging waves brought by the oceans, brimming with aquatic life; the title of jeweled comes from the minerals and gemstones, made from electrical forces conducted through the water.Towards the central-east are the geyser plains, fields of grass, and small plants, followed by various geysers, geothermal vents, and minor volcanism, which are used for their energy needs and in their life cycle and reproduction. Between the lake forests and geyser plains lies the Gerbervex river, a shallow yet extensively long river from the south to the north of Guinzil, filled with life that migrated from the ocean. On the rest of the continent in the upper northeast is the Gradivdel zone (named after the tree of the same name), filled with vast forests, jungles, and mountainous regions clutter this section of land, followed by fluctuating magnetic fields, gravity anomalies, floating rocks, and exotic spiritual phenomena.Amazingly, despite the intense gravity on Guinzil, almost all life here has evolved like Earth life; this may seem like a violation of physics or a measurement error until viewing Gunizil-based life biology. The majority of life possess organs that either produce electromagnetic fields or contain anti-gravity materials (called Gravite) to counteract the effects of gravity, combined with the use of carbon-based skeletons and muscles, allowing for towering heights for such an extreme environment, with others using these organisms to survive.A well-known example is the Gradivdel, multi-kilometer trees with roots hundreds of meters in diameter, using attracted electricity and anti-gravity materials to gain such size, causing gravity anomalies and elemental transmutation from the process.Hezsher is a proto-island connected to Gunizil via a strip of land, nicknamed the rock blossom for the curved rocky edges and protrusions made from an ancient energy burst.Inefez, a small island to the southwest of Hezsher, which, up until the last forty thousand years, had life adapted to the high gravity rather than resist it like their Gunizil relatives, before being displaced and rendered extinct by the presence of Gradivdel seeds via hurricanes, and the importing of fauna by the Ocpodle.BIOLOGYThe Ocpodle are carbon-based organisms measuring three meters in height, one meter in width, and 43 kilograms in weight. The general body plan of the Ocpodle is in three segments called the chordbri, the tovour, and the gadunx, the three sections resembling a chalice. The chordbri holds the brain, mouth, speech, and sensory organs. The sensory organs are eight eyes arranged in a radial pattern on retractable stocks, each colored blue, followed by an iris varying between white to orange and a black pupil, capable of seeing standard wavelengths like human sight. Around the eyes is a band-shaped visor-like wall that acts as a giant nose, filled with thousands of scent receptors, giving an excellent sense of smell.Above the eyes and banded nose are the ears, eight in total, arranged in a radial pattern, with hearing on par with canines and adjustable to hear at any angle. The combination of the ears, eyes, and nose and their placement allows full 360-degree coverage and multiple viewing angles.Connected to these senses is the brain, resembling a toroid with its neural matter in an exotic configuration using gold, allowing for near-complete control of the body and room for the mouth.Located in the center above the head is the mouth, a circular maw filled with prehensile jaws that extend and retract when feeding, which comes from a tongue-like tentacle, a trait from their infant stage used for sucking fluids from prey.Around the mouth and below the eyes are speech organs, organic speaker-like systems for producing a wide range of sounds throughout the surrounding environment in all directions. The tovour contains several vital organs, including the reproductive organs and limbs.Within the barrel-like body are the internal organs, most of them with function and purpose as humans, but in different quantities and exotic configurations; one such example is the lung, resembling a single ovoid with multiple contracting nodes.Externally surrounding the tovour are the arms, tentacle limbs made purely of muscle, and metallic cables for channeling anti-gravity energy, capable of extending in or out of slot-like holes. Four sections spread radially with four in each. Interestingly, the carbon molecules making up the muscle tissue are in a configuration not unlike carbon nanotubes, bestowing incredible strength to the individual.Between the tovour and gadunx are the reproductive organs. Male genitalia consists of a glowing tendril with three internal testes pairs. Females possess a hose-like orifice and three pairs of egg-producing ovaries that hang off the sides in pouches. Beyond their reproductive organs, females are slightly smaller and more stationary than males. The gadunx holds the locomotion system.Physically, it appears as a pillar covered in metallic spheres, with a disk on the bottom. Internally, it holds several plates sandwiched between electrical receptors and muscle tissue; said plates come from gravite, an exotic material that produces an anti-gravity field channeled throughout the body by cables. The gravite within the pillar passively produces enough anti-gravity energy to counteract the gravity of Hazuli. But with power and signals, the field is boosted to where it causes the Ocpodle to float and move. Such an ability grants 3-dimensional orientation, flight, and direction and gives another reason for the radial limbs and eyes of the species. However, due to the weak nature of gravity, an Ocpodle requires substantial energy to produce sufficient propulsion, which wains on their endurance and increases their metabolism, causing the Ocpodle to focus on strategy, efficiency, and quick reactions to take out their target quickly before tiring. Some Ocpodle have used the addition/supplementing of energy devices or electromagnetic modifications, but even this eventually wears them down.Below the gadunx is a saucer-shaped disk, which allows an Ocpodle to stand or adhere to a surface via an adhesive skin layer.Located throughout the body lies the skeleton, composed of an exotic aluminum oxide for its strength and low weight. The chordbri, tovour, and gadunx skeletal sections are effectively a single piece; this makes it more powerful and durable at the cost of movement and flexibility. The Ocpodle reproduce via a male and female locking together with their genitalia until the male releases their sperm into the female, of which they will let go. After one week, the female will deposit six to twelve capsules (called oipseen) into the ground at any area (ideally near Gradivdel trees) guarded by the male and female parents, with the female depositing nutrient-filled ooze to feed the capsules development. At two weeks, the capsules will go through three distinct stages.First stage. The oipseen will start to develop its chordbri and part of its tovour (though in a very deformed state) and have root-like appendages; this stage uses the soil, solar energy, and electrical energy from a Gradivdel tree to feed itself and further its development. If the soil is poor in materials, then the cells within the oipseen might use transmutation to produce the nutrients, but will slow growth and boost energy needs, or the parents use fertilizers and artificial lighting instead.Second stage. The oipseen is thirty centimeters in height, has a fully developed chordbri and tovour, and is in the process of growing the gadunx, with it feeding almost entirely on living prey using a prehensile skewer, which either comes from the parents or a wandering animal.Third stage. The oipseen is now a fully developed Ocpodle (though still not fully grown) at roughly half a meter in height, with its skewer becoming its feeding mouth. Once it disturbs the dirt with its tendrils, the young Ocpodle will use the anti-gravity field of its gadunx to cork itself out of the ground, becoming fully mobile.Depending on environmental conditions, this process will take two to three and a half years to complete, with an additional sixteen years for the Ocpodle to become a fully grown adult. Also, depending on environmental conditions, resources, and specific proteins and nutrients will affect the gender of the oipseens, with ideal conditions producing four males and eight females, with lower ones making only one to two males and ten females. Oipseens expected to become male or female while examining them in utero can switch genders if the right conditions allow it.PSYCHOLOGY CULTURE AND GOVERNMENTThe Ocpodle have a sense of performing their actions with efficiency and haste, not taking any approach slowly or focusing on it for too long, followed by the desire to multi-task and perform several roles simultaneously. They see any species that behaves the opposite of this mindset as slow, lazy, and having tunnel vision. The Ocpodle have no understanding of blindspots and treat their environment and position in it like civilizations do with space, with no proper concept of up or down, and consider any area the ground or relative to an individual. They are a very communal species; most of their childhood spent interacting with each other, even when oipseen in the ground, making them very close. It is not uncommon for one member of the species to know another.Because of this communal environment from oipseen to adulthood, the Ocpodle see themselves as a large family, where one group of Ocpodle have almost as much say in the parent's children as they do theirs and care for them, followed by the practice of building a public role, known as Coulpeai.Coulpeai is a practice similar to the concept of building face, where an individual Ocpodle engages in particular aspects based-on social circles, situations, and certain people, such as etiquette, the way you live, what food and clothing you use, jobs and tasks you perform for your family and community, and roles specific to one's gender. Such a practice exists on a spectrum, where an individual acts differently or has more room to step out of bounds with different people, from their work and public life, their friends, family, and themselves and their gods.Due to the minute differences between the sexes and tight neet communes, there is more cohesion and stability in mixed-gender circles and a focus on capability, status, and actions, followed by a greater emphasis on gender roles and their responsibility exclusive to males and females. If a male or female were to get the interest of the opposite sex, especially one of high status, they did something exemplary.Male Ocpodles have multiple female partners per male called harwou, with females arranged within a self-imposed hierarchy with guidelines based on their capability and importance to the male. That being waika, aaika, and maika.Waika. The dominant wives of the males, who have partial ownership and access to property and assets, advise and assist their husband and are second in command of the other female partners.Aaika. Wives secondary to the dominant wives that have some access to resources and rights as the head females but have no say or command in the household, merely assisting the head women of an estate.Maika. The caretakers and general choir handlers of the household. Taking care of most manners by command of the male and head wives, from getting the children ready for their schedule to taking care of the house.Additionally, we have the caika, Ocpodle, who live and work under a harwou but are not part of it. They consist of employees, widows from previous harwous, relatives working under the descendant, or girls learning to become wives. Under some circumstances, caika that have no direct relation to the son or daughter of the male will get to marry into the family through them.Regardless of rank, an Ocpodle male will care for and enjoy all females within his harwou and mate with most of them. A male can have children with most of the women, but children from the waika and aaika will take the highest priority (mostly in gaining inheritance by default); with those of the maika will have to work by themselves or under their dominant siblings (though the parents will ensure the maika children get on their feet for such a venture).A harwou can have up to twenty females on average, with a maximum of thirty if the male is of high status or pays a monthly fertility fine. Although, with advancements in technology, such sizes are a rarity due to an increase in males, with the standard size now five to eight females maximum per male.In most cases, a male will add women to his harwou either through courtship or through a pact with several women (with the women either friends, colleagues, or relatives to each other). However, a female Ocpodle can go up to a male and ask for a place in a harwou but must take a test presented by the male and the waika, with the female getting a score based on their performance, either failing or gaining one of the roles within a harwou. The Ocpodle possess a religion called Ragel-Delgoh. Its focus lies in an individual fulfilling their desires (Delgoh) and completing the roles of the community (Ragel). Ragel takes the highest priority, but Delgoh takes importance as well, as it builds your character and state of mind, considered to help complete Ragel. Following this is a subset of Ragel called Ragel-Seg, which focuses on roles specific to gender for males, Ragel-Seg-Raqol, and females Ragel-Seg-Graed.If an Ocpodle were to have a full Ragel-Delgoh, they would go to the afterlife named Vediniah; if they have not fully developed their Ragel-Delgoh or none at all, they are either sent on trials or to reincarnate to fulfill their duty to gain access. Regardless, before entering Vediniah, souls are scored and judged by Casezuc, an entity resembling shifting geometries and exotic shapes. The afterlife Vediniah resembles two disks linked together by several pillars with fluctuating gravity and electromagnetic fields, one disk reserved for Raqol and male Ocpodle, while the other for Graediulnm and female Ocpodle, and the center for Hettileh. Many churches follow this shape, divided into three sections for each god.The Ocpodle have three gods within their religion. Those being Raqol Graediulnm and Hettileh.Raqol, the god of hunting, invention, adaptation, and the representation of the male spirit, the Ocpodle depicts Raqol as a three-eyed, eight-legged entity with a caterpillar-like body, multiple limbs, and four statue figures that write down information and deploy weapons.Graediulnm, the goddess of fertility, cultivation, building, and the representation of the female spirit, the Ocpodle depicts Graediulnm as a sphere-shaped body with four twisting eyestalks, four spider legs, and two arms with thousands of feelers.Hettileh, the god of gravity, electricity, creation, and the mediator for Raqol and Graediulnm, the Ocpodle depicts Hettileh as a vaguely hourglass-like figure covered in spines and blue and purple orbs. The Ocpodle see Gradivdel trees as sacred, viewing them as the manifestation and formation of the gods, so much they avoid them as military targets and any that harm them is frowned on with disdain.A strikingly exotic aspect of Ocpodle society is their architecture. Due to anti-gravity properties and radial, omnidirectional senses of the Ocpodle, buildings twist and shape into various forms, decor, and flooring stick to ceilings and walls, with many structures outright floating in mid-air, the only constant being designed for the Ocpodle to observe radially. Additionally, the designs reflect the belief of Coulpeai, with an area for family and public circles, one for friends, and one for individuals.Their art follows a similar motif, created for viewing it from multiple angles and directions. The Ocpodle have several sports meant for various age groups and either for both or one gender. One is lead bat, where two opponents fight across a vast cavern with sticks adorned with the dense material. The Ocpodle possess powerful technology, most notably in anti-gravity tech, from floating buildings, hovercraft, and the gravity drive, their principal drive for FTL travel, followed by a presence in space early in their history (with space travel going on for centuries before humans), and powerful industries. The Ocpodle have a powerful military, with each soldier capable of using multiple weapons at once, and choose from any using a teleporter system; though, their size is much smaller compared to the other galactic powers as only males are allowed to fight in a war, and are a small part of the population, which emphasizes giving them the best training and equipment, with them performing quick, decisive action, and attacking in multiple directions, making them akin to a knightly order or stormtroopers and commandos. The Ocpodle government consists of an e-democracy or e-parliament called the Feafun, where individuals take part at will on an open online platform across Ocpodle space, decide policies and laws, and assign personnel to rule territory.Only those of the male gender who own land can engage in the Feafun, though women of waika status married to a member of the e-democracy can have a say or consult in the voting process at half the voting power of their husband.Any individual can propose a law, project, or petition to take effect, with the other members debating the subject before finally casting their vote. Under rare circumstances, an Ocpodle's vote or proposition becomes denied outright if the poster or participant has a history of making decisions that cause damage or go against the interests or traditions of the Ocpodle people. Because their policies rely on data and information, free speech and open debate are paramount to their society functioning, followed by extensive probes for gathering knowledge on the daily situation of the galaxy.Whenever an individual starts a debate or proposes an idea, a notification gets sent to any male landowner within Ocpodle space, allowing the chance to observe or participate in an event. In some cases, an individual or group of Ocpodle within a Feafun can counterargue against a change in law or policy within their local area by stating it doesn't apply to their situation.Above the Feafun is the Vortunu, semi-self-appointed individuals that moderate debates, court hearings on crimes, or counteract anything that violates the fundamental rights of Ocpodle kind. The Vortunu rarely intervened, as open political speech and self-discipline allow for justice and the best ideas to prevail. Such a group was a relatively recent addition following the events that caused the Human-Ocpodle war and other scandals within the Feafun.Following the Feafun and Vortunu are the Raydellia. Monks that maintain the Ocpodle internet structure and online services for personal and political use as part of their vow to gods of knowledge and charisma. Those who wish to become Raydellia must undergo various tests and vows to show they will not corrupt or censor the Feafun or any citizen of the Ocpodle nation. In the past, the Ocpodle Internet, and by extension, the Feafun, was run by several semi-independent companies, powerful families, and shareholders. Much like the presence of the Vortunu, however, total censorship and the tyranny that followed resulted in the change of management of the Feafun.Because of how the Ocpodle government is structured, no elections or politicians beyond the Raydellia and Vortunu exist; only the male citizens that decide the fate of themselves and their fellow man. Any military, transportation, energy, industry, law enforcement, and monetary action comes from individuals or groups of Ocpodle freely associating or cooperating at the behest of the Feafun to ensure these needs are met using their skills and resources. Some such organizations place themselves on the net for local or interstellar Feafuns to take notice and decide on making them suppliers of their service to all citizens.Since all government systems come from only the citizens themselves, Ocpodle societies encourage men to learn and engage in political action to ensure a pool of fresh and new members to keep Ocpodle civilization stable, especially in areas that have little to no active participants in the Feafun, with schools centered around teaching people on such matters.
